Coordinator, Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Campaign Council in Anambra State, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, has appealed to stakeholders in the state to mobilise human and material resources to ensure that Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the party for the 2027 polls, wins the election.
Ibezi’s efforts to mobilise voters for Obi is coming on the heels of a stiff opposition against the former Anambra governor by the incumbent, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who has been very vocal about his opposition to Obi’s presidential aspiration.
Soludo has severally campaigned against Obi, making it very clear that he supports President Bola Tinubu who’s seeking another term of four years in office.
Ibezi, in a statement to formally announce his appointment and to declare his readiness to work for the party, said that it had become very necessary for all hands to be on deck to ensure a resounding victory for Obi, given that Anambra is his home state.
“I am deeply honoured by my appointment as the Anambra State Coordinator of the NDC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections”, he remarked.
“I receive this responsibility with a profound sense of duty, full appreciation of the task ahead, and an unwavering commitment to the cause we have chosen to pursue.”
Ibezi, a former representative of Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, said that he fully understood the demands of his office and promised not to let anyone down.
“This is not merely an appointment; it is a call to service, a call to organise, and a call to bring people together around the collective aspiration for a better Nigeria. Anambra occupies a peculiar place in this campaign. As the home state of our presidential candidate, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, the expectations are understandably high, and we must rise to meet them.
“Our responsibility goes beyond securing victory; we must work to ensure that Anambra delivers a resounding mandate, reflected in the strength and number of valid votes cast for Mr. Peter Obi. We must be at the forefront of states that will contribute the highest number of votes to his emergence as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
Ibezi said that his team would equally work towards securing victory for NDC candidates across the other elective positions in the state.
“This task will not be accomplished by a few individuals or through political declarations alone. It requires organisation, genuine engagement, sacrifice, and the collective efforts of party faithful, stakeholders, community leaders, young people, women, and every Nigerian who believes that our country can do better.
“We must reach those who are undecided, those who feel left behind, those who have grown weary of the system, and those who have withdrawn from the electoral process because they no longer believe their votes can make a difference.
“We must listen to them, earn their confidence, and remind them that the future of our country is too important to be surrendered to apathy.
The work has begun, and there is no room for complacency. We must take this campaign to the 21 LGAs, 326 Wards, 5,720 polling units, markets, churches and every household in Anambra state.
“Our objective is clear: to mobilise the people, secure their participation, and translate their aspirations into votes at the polls. We must also ensure that every valid vote counts and that the democratic process reflects the will of the people”, he said.
The former lawmaker made a passionate appeal to Ndi Anambra and Nigerians who desire a new direction for the country to work for Obi’s victory in next year’s poll.
“I extend an open invitation to join us. The task before us is demanding, but with unity and commitment we can make a difference.
Anambra must rise to the occasion, Peter Obi must receive a resounding mandate, and together, we must work for a new Nigeria that delivers for its people. The call to duty is clear. Let us get to work”, Ibezi concluded.
