At least two people have died and residents have been displaced across 18 communities in Ekye Local Council of Nasarawa State following severe flooding that submerged homes, destroyed farmlands and damaged properties and other sources of livelihood.
The disaster has forced dozens of residents to flee their homes and seek refuge on higher ground as concerns grow over the safety of affected communities.
Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Nawoni Aboki, disclosed the casualties and extent of the destruction during a press briefing in Lafia on Tuesday.
